"Apple Event 2017" - Snaps Recap

The spotlight on today's "Apple Event" was the iPhone X. Apple announced that they are getting rid the home button entirely for a bigger, bezel-free, edge-to-edge screen, with facial recognition. For a full hardware deep dive, check out this post in TechCrunch. What stood out to us, at Snaps, is the latest sneak peek of iOS11 and Animoji.

In iOS10, iMessage Apps could feel hidden. iOS11 is significantly more intuitive. Every time someone opens a conversation, the bottom of the screen displays an app drawer. With over 200,000 iMessages sent each second, every brand should be thinking about building an iMessage app or iMessage extension. iMessage is the most prime real estate on iPhones and iMessage presents a new opportunity for brands to create apps and services that help consumers.

The other new feature that we love in iOS11 are Animojis. Animojis are animated versions of the most popular emojis. Animojis will use the brand new Face ID to create custom 3D versions based on your own facial expressions. Whenever users send an Animoji, recipients will receive them as looping videos with audio. With over 6B emojis shared each year, Animojis will prove to be popular amongst iPhone users and will become another strong hook that keeps iPhone users tied into the Apple ecosystem.
